One of the questions we get asked most is. “Why did you choose to be web designers in Wales?”

Being web designers and developers since the ’90s we knew we could have stayed where we were on the south coast or gone to London, Manchester, Cardiff, Liverpool or Leeds. But we chose West Wales.

What’s so great about being web designers in Wales?

Whether we get one life or many lives we decided that quality of life was important for us and our family.

So in 2004 we moved ourselves and our work from Southsea in Hampshire to lovely West Wales.

There are many advantages to being based in a rural part of the country like west Wales. We are surrounded by ancient woodlands, forests, hills, and rivers. The coastline is spectacular with huge cliffs and golden sandy beaches.

Inspired afresh each day.

The really great thing about this part of the world is that each day is different. The combination of good light, clean fresh air and peaceful environment makes it a great place to be a web designer.

Most days we get out and about walking in the countryside, climbing a hill in the Preseli mountains or by the sea at Poppit Sands or Ceibwr Bay near Moylegrove in North Pembrokeshire.

So there is an ever-rich source of inspiration to feed into our work in creating websites.

West Wales is a haven.

West Wales really is a haven. There are so many creative people, artists, writers and musicians. And lots of successful small businesses. There are many farms, mostly dairy, mostly quite small by modern standards. And many tourist related companies make a good living here.

Holiday companies offer barn conversions, cottages, caravans and camping. All sorts of standards from ‘glamping’ to real ‘wild’ experiences. So much variety to choose from. There are lots of very good tourist attractions in the area as well as cinemas, concert halls and theatres.

Great people and attitude to life.

You meet so many characters and interesting people in west Wales. Of course people the world over are characters but Wales seems to attract more than its fair share.

This makes being a website designer all the more interesting. Each business, each website, each organisation is different and unique. And the people behind these businesses are just as individual. Its actually a lot of fun. Endlessly interesting and stimulating. We are very fortunate.

Where exactly are Tusler Design?

Tusler Design are equal distance from the three great Welsh towns of Carmarthen, Haverfordwest and Aberystwyth. Carmarthen is the oldest town in Wales. Aberystwyth is the home of the National Library of Wales and Haverfordwest is unusually both a county in its own right and the county town of Pembrokeshire.

Tusler Design are also equal distance from Newcastle Emlyn, Cardigan and Crymych. So it takes almost an hour to get to the motorway. But if needed we can be in Cardiff in two hours which is fine.

Location is no longer an issue in business.

Thanks to high-speed broadband being web designers in Wales is not a obstacle to working with companies all over the world.

Natually though we do have a large proportion of local clients. It’s nice to be able to meet face-to-face and establish proper relationships. This is made much easier when fairly local.

For the rest – Skype is a wonderful modern tool for business and makes it possible to communicate with clients and colleagues anywhere in the world.
