Your Visitors

Knowing the users of your site.

Most users of websites don’t want to be made to learn new skills.

Your visitors want to connect with the content they’ve found on your site. Often they’ve found your site via a search on Google or Bing. They click the link and open a new website – yours (hopefully). They are now looking for the content that was in the search term.

Communicating with the user of your site.

Make your text easy to understand. And make the content you provide easy to access.

Keep your messages separate and create new pages for each message. Use the correct headings and paragraph structure aligned with your site titles and page names to communicate with the search engines that you understand how to present content online.

Make it easy for them.

Users of websites still don’t really like to read from the screen so it has to be so easy they hardly realise they’re doing it.

So don’t make text tiny. It implies you don’t want it to be read. And use nice pictures, with tags and captions explaining them.

So often overlooked but remember to tell them who you are and what you do. So they are immediately reassured that they’re in the right place.
